How accurate were hockey goals scored in the past?

Not likely many were credited wrong....back in the "old" days if a goal was "incorrectly" credited the player would go to the referee and tell him if a team mate tipped it(ditto if a guy was credited with a goal who didn't actually touch it)-the referee would then go to the official scorer and have him make the change to the scoresheet.
