Why do non-christians believe telling someone the truth is the same as judging them?

Because they are using that approach as their defense, and trying to protect their rebellion against God. Yes, it is persecution against us, because the world hates us, just like they did Jesus, because Jesus is the light as well as the truth, and they love darkness instead of the light.
