I don't know how to wear this dress properly?

I just bought a dress I really love but I'm not sure how to wear it/what to wear it with. Its like a t-shirt dress? I think that's what you'd call it....its a burgundy colour, scoop neck with short sleeves and falls just above my knees. I have absolutely no idea what to wear it with, from shoes, jewelry, what kind of jacket/sweater and should I belt it on my waist (its loose enough that its not skintight but its not oversized)
