What adhesive to use for a headliner board?

I recently replaced my broken headliner board with an aftermarket plastic one. In the middle, the old one was held up by a small square piece of velcro. The strip won't work with the new one due to it being so heavy. What kind of adhesive, spray or whatever, should I use to stick it to the roof without damaging the paint?
