What are the recruitment options like for a science graduate in the British Army/ RAF?

In 2010 i will have a degree (hopefully a first) in Biosciences from Bristol, (the branch of biochemistry concerned with diseases, viruses, genetics and bioengineering). when i ask the careers people, they seem at a loss when concerned with the armed forces. Most of our lecturers are ex-MoD and DSTL (Defence Science Technology Laboratories), so they have provided good advice, but only on the side concerning Government lab and tech development jobs. i would like something more operational, yet i would like to be more than a regular squaddie and be able to use some of the things i've learnt.
